Bawnmore Community Infant School is a mainstream school. The school may provide support for students with special educational needs as detailed below. If you require more information on conditions the school can support, we encourage you to contact the school directly.

SEN statement

Provided by the school and not part of our review

We monitor all pupils closely and provide additional support as appropriate. We have an SEN register and pupils move on and off this register according to need. Where a child has a specific need, we will provide additional support within school to meet needs. If necessary, our next step is to involve external support agencies such as LABSS (Learning and Behaviour Support Service) teacher. We use IEPs (Individual Education Plans) and ask parents to contribute to these. We always work closely with parents to ensure that they are aware of their child's individual needs and to ensure that they are happy with actions being taken by the school.

We have had whole school training to enable us to understand the needs of children on the autistic spectrum and have two statemented pupils on roll. The school maintains a Communication Friendly Environment. If a child has a statement, then we are open to discussing whether or not we can offer provision to meet the child's needs in our school.
