What is this?

Facilitating A levels are ones that are commonly needed for entry to leading universities. The % of pupils achieving AAB or higher may therefore decrease if many pupils have opted not to take two or more of the facilitating subjects mentioned.

SEN statement

Provided by the school and not part of our review

Haslingden High School's Learning Support Faculty is staffed by 4 full time specialist teachers and 15 Teaching Assistants. This makes us one of the largest faculties in school. The work of the faculty is extremely varied and covers: SEN, behaviour support and support of students from ethnic minorities. Haslingden High School is one of the largest secondary schools in Lancashire and with a truly comprehensive intake it caters for students whose needs are representative of the population at large. Therefore we routinely support those with: specific and moderate learning difficulties; hearing or visual impairment; speech and communication problems; behaviour or emotional difficulties; those on the autistic spectrum and many more. In recent years we have admitted several students with physical disabilities and the school has invested heavily in adapting the building to improve accessibility for this group. All Teaching Assistants undergo training in Moving and Handling to enhance our work with PD students. The success of the Learning Support Faculty stems from its inclusive principles and the flexibility and commitment of its highly motivated staff.
