SEN overview

King James's School is a mainstream school. The school may provide support for students with special educational needs as detailed below. If you require more information on conditions the school can support, we encourage you to contact the school directly.

SEN statement

Provided by the school and not part of our review

King James's is a relatively small school and we aim to support our students in any way they feel they need. When pupils come to us in Year 7 they take tests in a number of areas which allows us to identify anyone who may have particular difficulties. Pupils will then be given provision to match their needs. Currently we have a dyslexia specialist teacher as well as the SENCO and a small but caring and lovely team of classroom assistants.

As well as helping students overcome difficulties in literacy we also work with small groups of Year 7 pupils with their maths skills. Any student who feels they need some help with homework or classwork is always welcome to come along for support and we are more than happy to talk to parents about ways in which we can support their child in school. We aim to provide a caring and supportive atmosphere, a place for children to feel safe and know they can find someone to help them whatever their difficulty.
