Additional individual sessions (SLD) are offered for spelling, grammar and organisational skills. Reading is taught from scratch on the Beacon Reading Program for those pupils who have a reading age of under eight years. There are 55 Statements on the SEN Register, plus 94 children at School Action Plus stage. There are thirteen children in the Castle Area Resource Base whose needs are more specialised and who are looked after by a team of four teachers and three LSAs.
