SEN statement

Provided by the school and not part of our review

The Weald Curriculum Support department is situated in a large, airy room on the first floor. Pupils use this room for a range of reasons: they may be having 1:2 literacy lessons with our specialist literacy tutor, or sessions on our SuccessMaker computer programme. Other groups that run are the Spelling Mastery small group course and the Reading Recovery programme, which is also a small group exercise. We also cater for pupils who are temporarily disabled because of broken limbs, recovering from long-term illness, although access to the first floor can be very difficult if a leg is in full plaster. Other pupils using our Curriculum Support facility, will be on shortened timetables. Thus some pupils in Key Stage 4 may be taking a reduced number of GCSEs. Pupils in Key Stage 3 may have been allowed to drop a second foreign language. We also provide a safe haven in this room for any pupil deemed by the Year Head to be in need of comforting.
