Bishops occupies some interesting territory between the independent and state sectors, and is a member of HMC. ‘We’re so grateful to escape the burden of school fees!’ admitted one parent. ‘Even if I had had the money for an independent school, I would still have sent my son to Bishops,’ stated another – sums it up, really.

What the school says

Bishop Wordsworth's School offers a high quality education for boys and girls. Quality of learning and teaching is very high across the full range of the curriculum and results are very strong in terms of both grades and value added. The school is in Salisbury Cathedral Close, and many school events are held in the cathedral each year. Sport and music are both very active and strong. Many pupils gain representative honours at county, regional and national levels in a wide range of sports, especially rugby. The sixth form is coeducational; there are 40 per cent girls in year 12 and 13.
