Mobile phone policy

A clear mobile phone policy is a really important part of modern schooling. This school has provided us with their policy.

Mobile phone policy

Provided by the school and not part of our review

Students are allowed to bring mobile phones to school. However, the phone must be kept in a student’s bag during the school day. The phone is not allowed to be on the student’s person, eg in a trouser or coat pocket. Mobile phones must be switched off at all times during the college day, including break and lunchtimes. Staff will confiscate a student's phone if these rules are not followed and the headteacher, in consultation with parents, reserves the right to hold the phone for up to three days.

The first student we met told us he’d checked out the Good Schools Guide website the night before – instant brownie points for him! Others we met made a point of coming up to us if they saw us again later. ‘How’s your day?’ ‘Are you enjoying it?’

SEN statement

Provided by the school and not part of our review

Blessed Edwards is widely recognised as one of the most inclusive secondary schools in Worcestershire and is one of only three secondary schools in the county to be recognised as an Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence. The school recently crowd funded the renovation of a former caretaker's bungalow transforming into a therapeutic support centre for students who find school challenging for a variety of reasons. Staff are trained to recognise and support a wide range of additional needs and work closely with parents if an EHCP is considered necessary.
