A calm, purposeful and well resourced school with a strong heart and family feel. Quaker values drive everything and parents love the lack of hot housing and the independence Bootham encourages. Pupils succeed academically but not at the expense of their own or others' well being. As one parent summed up, ‘Do your best is promoted over do the best.’

SEN statement

Provided by the school and not part of our review

Bootham School’s Quaker ethos is reflected in our core values of respecting and valuing individuals. Students with additional needs, like all of our students, are valuable members of our school community and play a vital role with their contribution to wider school life. We have a learning support department and a small team of learning support assistants, who work hard to support our students, both in and out of the classroom. SEND students have a variety of needs at Bootham. We have students with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia or dyscalculia, students with social emotional and mental health needs, or students who have a diagnosis of autism or ADHD. We have strong links with external assessors and agencies who can provide additional support when required. Applications are treated individually, on a case-by-case basis.
