SEN statement

Provided by the school and not part of our review

At Hinchley Wood School, we are an inclusive and supportive community dedicated to ensuring all learners reach their full potential. We embrace the diversity of our student body, including a strong and growing number of students with EHCPs, and believe in an adaptive approach to learning for every child, regardless of their additional needs.

Our highly trained staff have specialised expertise in autism, which is particularly vital for supporting the children in our National Autistic Society Cullum Centre. The Cullum Centre at Hinchley Wood is recognised for its advanced practice and enables students with autism to thrive in a mainstream setting, accessing lessons alongside their peers while receiving specialist support.

We deliver Quality First Teaching with the highest expectations for all students, with a clear focus on ensuring every child can access all lessons and follow a full and ambitious curriculum, including sitting a full complement of GCSEs. Teaching is adapted to meet individual needs, with timely and effective interventions for those who require additional support.

We value strong partnerships with parents and carers and work closely with them and the students to gather insights and track progress. We also collaborate with a range of external agencies to develop tailored programmes and provide the best possible support. Our aim is to foster students' independence and equip them with the skills and confidence to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
