SEN statement

Provided by the school and not part of our review

At Hymers College Junior School, we believe that with the right support, every child can flourish. Our friendly and experienced learning support team works with pupils both one-to-one and in small groups to meet a wide range of needs, whether academic, social, or English as an additional language. We aim to create a positive and encouraging environment where children feel happy, confident and ready to learn.

We also work closely with families to provide guidance and support around referrals for ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia and/or EHCPs. For pupils who may need a little extra emotional support, we offer sessions with emotional literacy support assistants, helping children to understand and manage their feelings in a safe and nurturing space.

Concerns around academic progress or social confidence are always taken seriously, and we work in partnership with parents to find the best way forward for each child. Being part of a through school allows us to share resources and expertise across all age groups, ensuring a smooth and well-supported transition into the senior school.
