Big focus on the performing arts: has Artsmark Gold and a modern performing arts area; plays tend to be musicals, eg Phantom of the Opera, Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz (seniors) and Mulan, Beauty and the Beast (juniors, with partner primary schools);

Ethos & heritage

Pastoral care, inclusivity & discipline

Very thoughtful and comprehensive policies, eg the sensible advice issued to pupils on how to cope with bullying, including cyber-bullying. The focus is more on rewards than sanctions. Planners are used by form tutors and parents to get problems

The majority are practising Catholics – white, middle class professionals from Harrogate and Wetherby and the surrounding district. However school has greatest ethnic diversity in North Yorkshire, with significant numbers of Polish and Phillipino

As a school that serves the local Catholic community, St John Fisher provides an education that meets the needs of all pupils that would benefit from a mainstream education. We seek to provide an inclusive education that provides appropriate support in a variety of contexts, depending on the needs of the individual. St John Fisher is proud of its ongoing commitment to support all children under our care, whatever their aptitude or ability. The school supports the spiritual, academic, social, physical and behavioural development of all pupils, with an emphasis on increased levels of assistance for those vulnerable children with the greatest need.

We have an SEN quality mark from the Local Authority. The school has achieved accreditation as a "Healthy School". Nov 09.
