A courageous school that offers something slightly different in the competitive London day school market. Well-rounded, happy, productive young people, equipped to take on life and its challenges, parents feel that this says much more than a grade sheet. ‘A place where education can be tailored to your child rather than the child having to just fit into a system. ’ Small is definitely beautiful here.

The last word

A courageous school that offers something slightly different in the competitive London day school market. Well-rounded, happy, productive young people, equipped to take on life and its challenges, parents feel that this says much more than a grade

What the school says

Thames is an independent co-educational secondary school in London recognised for its excellent academic achievement, celebration of each individual pupil’s abilities and its Christian ethos.

Parents care deeply about their child’s education and so do we. We go out of our way to recruit excellent teachers with a passion for their subject many of whom are professionals in their field. As a small secondary school each individual is known and valued and this combined with well-behaved classes enables our teachers to develop each pupil’s talents and inspire them to achieve. Our teachers build trust and open communication with pupils and their parents. This relationship between parent and teacher is highly valued.

Our pupils attain top grades across a wide range of subjects and have no difficulty in obtaining places at the sixth forms of their choice including highly competitive independent and grammar schools. In 2016 48% of grades were A*/A and our pupils typically achieve over a grade and in some cases several grades higher across all subjects when compared to national data.

Whether your child enjoys science, humanities, languages or the arts, we offer choices to suit them. GCSE options include separate sciences, computer science, music, graphics, drama and PE. This is coupled with a vibrant programme of co-curricular activities, competitions and trips including our ISA award winning trip to Africa.

Our admissions process involves getting to know both you and your child. We seek to understand your child’s aspirations and how we can enable them to fulfil their potential.

The school is located just a few hundred metres from the highly accessible transport hub of Clapham Junction Station (Zone 2) with its excellent rail connections from Victoria, Waterloo and many parts of both North and South London and the London Overground network.

Whilst first and foremost a mainstream school, the generous teacher to pupil ratio, small classes and highly personalised approach enables teachers to work seamlessly with neurodiverse and neurotypical children alike. The school's outstanding creative arts provision often acts as an outlet for the neurodiverse. Those whose needs cannot be met solely in the classroom benefit from a highly qualified and CReSTeD recognised SEND Team.
