What the school says

Less than an hour from London, in the heart of historic Winchester, is The Pilgrims' School where we aim to give boys the best of all worlds - a brilliant academic, musical, sporting and creative start in life and the skills to navigate the modern world. Our values of heart, respect, integrity, joy and excellence are at the forefront of everything we do. We encourage boys to enjoy learning, value knowledge and experience the joy to be had from performing collaboratively with others, be that in music, sport or drama.

Manners matter, so we nurture confidence and a strong sense of self partnered with humility and an ability to see the wisdom in appreciating another's point of view. Whilst connecting with its strengths, we guide boys to understand the issues of our times, including the potential risks of AI. With nearly 100 years' experience in raising boys we are experts in their pastoral care.

In addition to academic excellence, Pilgrims' achieves outstandingly in music. We are unique in being a double choir school, educating the professional choirboys of Winchester Cathedral and Winchester College. We inhabit historic buildings between these two ancient institutions, meaning Pilgrims' boys are at the heart of a community where a holistic education is valued and opportunities abound. All our boys enjoy the perfect blend of a small, caring community combined with the outstanding facilities of the college.

As well as the cathedral choristers and college quiristers, we have thriving school choirs, numerous ensembles and multiple performances throughout the year which give every boy the chance to develop as a young musician. As a Christian school steeped in the liberal arts as well as STEM, we foster moral integrity whilst teaching boys to appreciate diversity of thought.

With sport woven into almost every day and match days twice a week, boys play on our stunning sports fields within the walls of Wolvesey Castle, as well as enjoying the state the art facilities at Winchester College. The water meadows of the river Itchen are just a stone's throw away and a chalk stream runs through our grounds. Being in this remarkable part of Hampshire is the perfect environment in which to raise inquisitive boys with an appreciation for the natural world whilst also having ambition, a zest for life, kindness and an ability to see the worth of others.

Whether you're interested in a place for boarding or day, we would love the chance to show you what we do and to welcome you #ThroughTheGreenDoors into the magical gem of a site we call home.

In addition to open days, we offer bespoke tours with pupils and tea with the headmaster every Tuesday. You'll get the chance to see a working school day, chat to the boys, and see our brilliant staff in action.

We're very proud of what we do and most especially of our boys. Please do call to book a visit to experience our wonderful school for yourself.
