What the school says...

Situated on a 70 acre campus in Yorkshire with extensive grounds yet conveniently located close to major air, railway and motorway networks, Woodhouse Grove provides a first class all-round education for boys and girls, day and boarders alike.

Our outstanding facilities, excellent academic results, wide range of co-curricular activities and a beautiful setting ensure that we can provide our students with the best opportunities and preparation for a life beyond the classroom. A child's potential could lie anywhere - so we ensure that every pupil is exposed to a huge array of opportunities and experiences. We take pride in identifying and honing their strengths, while working hard to develop any areas that require improvement - ensuring that each and every Grovian grows into the very best version of themselves that they can be.

Our excellent facilities include an impressive 25m competition swimming pool, a state-of-the-art sports centre and and a purpose-built music and drama facility, including a 250-seat theatre. Our academic facilities are second to non - including high specification science labs, IT suites and a superb digital language laboratory. Our Design & Technology department incorporates workshops, design suites and its own IT room.

We are a school built on a Christian foundation, with traditional values but a forward thinking approach; an unpretentious school that seeks to nurture all. Visitors to Woodhouse Grove often comment on our warm and friendly atmosphere. Come and see for yourself - meet the pupils and talk to the Headmaster. You will find a friendly welcome and a school with a proud past and an exciting future.

All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Please note: Independent schools frequently offer IGCSEs or other qualifications alongside or as an alternative to GCSE. The DfE does not record performance data for these exams so independent school GCSE data is frequently misleading; parents should check the results with the schools.

Special Education Needs

As a school equally academically ambitious and sensitive, Woodhouse Grove has had a Learning Support Unit for more than 30 years and approximately 10% of our intake receives support. We are committed to providing a balanced education for everyone. We have a ‘whole school’ approach to pupils with Special Educational Needs and /or disabilities (SEND). In close consultation with pupils, parents and outside agencies, we endeavour to remove barriers to learning. In this way we optimise educational outcomes and seek to fulfil pupil potential. It is our experience that timetable flexibility and personal confidence, built up through contact with a member of the Learning Support department, are effective in this.
