What the school says...

A message from the Headmaster:

Welcome to Hereford Cathedral School. We seek to provide an exciting and dynamic environment in which young people can feel happy in themselves, secure in their learning and confident that they are developing the life skills necessary for the challenges ahead.

Within the beautiful historic setting of the Cathedral Close you will find a unique energy and spirit, where expectations are high and pupils excel. Boys and girls from different walks of life make friends, support each other and share a common sense of purpose.

Small class sizes, specialist teaching staff and strong pastoral care ensure that each pupil is seen as an individual. Traditional values are at the heart of what we do and with an excellent reputation for academic, artistic, musical, sporting and extra-curricular success, Hereford Cathedral School is a very special place to be.

You and your family are warmly invited to come and experience our distinctive school for yourselves. I look forward to meeting you.

Thank the school

Parents and pupils often have cause to acknowledge the help and support they have received from their schools, for example in helping in the choice of further education or careers. "Say thank you" allows you to send a quick note of appreciation to the school in general or to an individual teacher.

This is a thank you to your school, teacher or careers adviser who helped you to get where you are now.

Please fill in the fields below, which we will transform into a letter of thanks from you to them.

Leave blank if you want to thank the school as a whole

Years you were there

Headmaster

Since 2005, Mr Paul Smith BSc. Originally a zoologist (undergraduate at Manchester, postgraduate at KCL), his first teaching post was at Rugby, followed by stints at King Edward’s School Birmingham and as head of science at Haileybury, then second master and acting head at Portsmouth Grammar School. A softly spoken, friendly, but determined character. Married with two daughters.

Works hard at getting to know every child and speaks of teaching as a 'humbling experience'. Insists on the importance of staff respecting pupils and not becoming 'myopic' about children who don’t fit a particular mould. Emphatic about the importance...
