Moor Park

What says..

The real magic happens out back, within a courtyard of multicoloured, single storey wooden huts, each displaying its own individual subject interest. Granted, this teaching space is not nearly as polished as the main house, but no corridors means everyone gets a breath of fresh air between lessons. Parents tell us ‘it’s rougher round the edges in terms of facilities than some schools, but has a lovely feeling.’ Sport timetabled daily, with fixtures and clubs on top. Teams ‘punch well above our weight on the circuit’. A teams are selective, B and beyond mixed ability. ‘Everybody is in a team’. What The Good Schools Guide says

Headmaster

Since September 2024, James Duffield, a former pupil at the school who had previously been head of religious studies and a housemaster. His appointment was reportedly welcomed by parents as it marks a return to the school having a Catholic headmaster.

Entrance

‘Nearly’ non-selective, welcoming all-comers at nursery and pre-prep. ‘Subtle’ testing and previous reports used to guide later entry decisions. Covid has meant temporary reduction in overseas students, including usually a dozen or so Spanish boarders, attracted in the main by the school’s Roman Catholic ethos.

Special Education Needs

We have an excellent learning support department, staffed by one full-time member of staff and several part-time specialists. Teaching is normally on a one-to-one basis but there is some paired group work. Support may be given for gifted children, dyslexia, dyspraxia, extra help with literacy/reading, numeracy, study skills, and ESL. The school is proud of its attention to the individual and the Learning Support Department embodies this.
