What the parents say...

Arriving from Toronto in 2012, it was difficult to find an SEN private school in the area, and our son didn't enjoy the small (and expensive) weekly boarding school we ended up placing him in. Beaucroft was highly recommended but is only open to local ratepayers in East Dorset. Their educational psychologist fitted in an interview, and concluded our son would benefit from attending. He really enjoyed his 2.5 years at Beaucroft, grew in confidence and gained Level 3 Equivalents in Maths and English, as well as several Asdan qualifications. The school suggested applying for Brockenhurst Sixth Form College, rather than continuing in the 12 person sixth form that was opened at Beaucroft in 2014, as they felt he would benefit from the higher level of attainment possible in its continuing education courses. although the daughter of friends finds it very suitable for her needs. Head Paul McGill and the staff did an excellent job, and continue to do so for the 135 odd pupils. The catchment area is east Dorset outside of Poole and Bournemouth, so quite large, and as noted, one needs to be a local resident and be approved by the education authority to be able to send your children there.

Thank the school

Parents and pupils often have cause to acknowledge the help and support they have received from their schools, for example in helping in the choice of further education or careers. "Say thank you" allows you to send a quick note of appreciation to the school in general or to an individual teacher.

This is a thank you to your school, teacher or careers adviser who helped you to get where you are now.

Please fill in the fields below, which we will transform into a letter of thanks from you to them.

Leave blank if you want to thank the school as a whole

Years you were there

Can be left blank but, if you can, think of a few words that will bring a smile.

Special Education Needs

The Good Schools Guide writes: Beaucroft Foundation School is a special school catering for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and autistic spectrum disorders. Following a glowing OFSTED report, the school achieved beacon status in 2002. The school has good facilities including ample outdoor space. Initial contact regarding admission to the school should be made to the child's host LEA. Visits to the school, by appointment, from prospective parents are welcomed. Admissions are controlled jointly by the school, Dorset Pupil and Parent Services, and the child's home authority. The school provides outreach to other schools in the locality.
