Probably the starkest school building in the Scottish independent sector - a pale blue shoebox with bright red signage rising oddly behind some spectacular ornate railings (a relic of the former Hamilton Palace) but with stunning views and masses of space overlooking Hamilton Park race course. Impressive record of art school entry (lots to Glasgow) and some distinguished past pupils. All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Academic matters

The school 'has high academic expectations' and, using the Scottish exam system, offers Nationals at S4, generally five Highers at S5 and a combination of Highers and Advanced Highers at S6. French, from J5, German and Latin, from SI, on offer. All three sciences taught from S1.

Results are solid with high spots in history and chemistry. RMPS for all has an excellent pass rate. Most take English and maths Higher and the school 'usually manages to meet subject requests at Higher and Ad H'.
