Pupils we met were bubbling over with excitement about their new school site, proudly showing us every nook and cranny. Teaching is fun and pupils are engaged. Project based learning ensures a holistic real-life approach to education. Year 2 pupils are currently studying Shackleton and discuss his expeditions by looking at the geography of the polar landscape and the historical context and importance of the exploration; they have been reading and writing fictional diary entries for English and, when we visited, were making junk-models of Endurance. What the school says...

The primary aim of the School is to prepare children for the next step of their education at the age of 11, ensuring that they are articulate and have taken full advantage of an education designed to stimulate the development of each child both intellectually and socially. We have two libraries, an ICT suite, a well-equipped laboratory, art room, music room and a Sports Hall which blends a state-of-the-art school with beautiful historic buildings. There are specialist teachers in Mathematics, English, Science, Information Technology, Design Technology, Geography, History, Art, Music and French. There is also a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Every effort has been made to consider the needs of modern teachers and pupils to create an environment second to none. All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Academically non-selective. Offers places based on a taster day and head interview only: ‘We see so much of a child by spending a day with them in the class’. Kindergarten from the term the pupil turns 3 - very much a ‘pre-school’ education rather than a nursery, with uniforms worn and pupils expected to be toilet trained and no longer needing a day time nap.
Currently experiencing the post-Covid relocation boom, the prep is seeing its highest ever level of new starters, so always worth asking about joining...
