What the school says...
Beccles is a high performing school in the Beccles and Bungay area with a Progress 8 score that demonstrates that we are absolutely dedicated to the development of high academic achievement along with a student-centered approach to learning.
We believe that our young people are capable of truly fantastic things and we expect them to strive to achieve their very best whilst studying with us. Working with parents, carers and the local community, we look to provide a range of opportunities for our students to enjoy their learning and excel. Our students tell us that they value the way lessons are delivered at Beccles and the strong relationships that exist in school between students and staff. This is only possible because of our small size.
We offer a traditional curriculum that enables our students to flourish academically and lay the foundations for their successful progression into post-16 learning. Our strong pastoral support system and wide range of enrichment activities help our students to develop and contribute positively to the local community. If there are more applicants to a school than it has places for, who gets in is determined by which applicants best fulfil the admissions criteria.
Admissions criteria are often complicated, and may change from year to year. The best source of information is usually the relevant local authority website, but once you have set your sights on a school it is a good idea to ask them how they see things panning out for the year that you are interested in.
Many schools admit children based on distance from the school or a fixed catchment area. For such schools, the cut-off distance will vary from year to year, especially if the school give priority to siblings, and the pattern will be of a central core with outliers (who will mostly be siblings). Schools that admit on the basis of academic or religious selection will have a much more scattered pattern.
