Special Education Needs
All children admitted to The Rowan School have a Statement of Special Educational needs related to severe or complex communication difficulties. Currently our children are organised into 8 class groups. Each class is staffed by a minimum of a teacher and a teaching and learning assistant. Additional staffing is allocated according to needs. Our curriculum is based on the 6 areas of learning in the Foundation Stage and on the National Curriculum with a clear emphasis on speech and language and social interaction. Children have individual timetables to meet individual needs and teaching approaches are multi-sensory to meet variety in learning styles. The Rowan School has a multi-professional approach with staff and visiting colleagues working closely together to enable each other to meet children's needs in the best ways.
