All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.

Since 2015, Zoe Dunn BEd PhD NPHQ (early 40s), an Eng lit specialist with an impressive pedigree, fitting for this neck of the woods. Schooled at a Kent grammar, she did her degree at Homerton, Cambridge and continued to teach reception children throughout her postgrad, admitting with a chuckle that ‘sometimes I found the 5-year-olds more mature than the undergraduates.’ After five years at The Hall, down the road, she went to the Royal School - up the hill, and now taken over by North Bridge House Senior - first as deputy head and latterly as head of its junior school.
