Since 2019, Joanne Parpworth. She joined Haddon Dene School in 2012 and became head seven years later. Back then, pupil numbers had dropped dramatically and Haddon Dene was facing bankruptcy, but by the time of the merger they were back up to a healthy 170. ‘But with a limited site, we couldn’t go higher. Naturally we were aware of nearby Wellesley House’s financial difficulties and extensive grounds, so it made sense to acquire Wellesley House and move everyone there.’
Educated at her local comp in Birmingham, she was the first in her family to attend university (business at Aston), after which she worked in business and marketing for the likes of Boots and Dixons. Special Education Needs
We have a fully qualified SENCo who is a full time member of staff and who has 30 years experience of working with a wide range of Special Needs. We have a specialist SEN room fully equipped with the latest computer technology and teaching resources. The SENCo works closely with all members of staff to ensure full access to the curriculum for each child in the school. SEN teaching takes place during the normal school day and can take the form of one to one withdrawal, small group teaching or in-class support. Wellesley is able to make provision for a range of moderate learning difficulties and can offer both academic and pastoral support. For a full account of our SEN policy, please contact the School.
