What is this?

Facilitating A levels are ones that are commonly needed for entry to leading universities. They are: biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, further mathematics, geography, history, English literature and classical or modern languages. The % of pupils achieving AAB or higher may therefore decrease if many pupils have opted not to take two or more of the facilitating subjects mentioned.

SEN overview

Thetford Grammar School is a mainstream school. The school may provide support for students with special educational needs as detailed below. If you require more information on conditions the school can support, we encourage you to contact the school directly.

SEN statement

Provided by the school and not part of our review

Thetford Grammar School has been providing specialist dyslexic support within an independent mainstream educational setting for many years. In recognition of this the school has also been CReSTeD registered since 2013. We are proud to have helped many dyslexic students achieve their potential, progressing to either sixth form or college courses of their choice and then often on to universities - including Oxbridge.

As a CReSTeD school we recognise that some dyslexic pupils may benefit from an adapted curriculum and our pupils are able to benefit from small learning groups and additional access to support. Where appropriate, for example if detailed in the provision of a current EHCP, the school can also offer integrated speech and language therapy and occupational therapy.

Our pupils take on average 8 GCSEs (including the core curriculum subjects) and entrants should be identified as at the higher end of the average range or above.

Prospective pupils will attend a number of taster days prior to being offered a place to ensure that their needs can be appropriately met.
