Since 2016, Andy Walters, previously deputy head at Sheiling School. Has been leading the school with passion and verve (partially fuelled, we wondered, by the very strong coffee we were offered during our meeting with him). Before finding the

Great gym hall for students to throw some hoops, play badminton or run around. Helmets are at the ready for those wanting to use the trikes and go-karts outside. Sport is formally on the timetable once a week, but the students also use the facilities

Boarders

‘Home from home’ is the emphasis for the boarders and, with only a small number doing so (nine currently with space for another three), this is possible. Students have their own bedroom; some have ensuite bathrooms whilst others have a bathroom very

SEN statement

Provided by the school and not part of our review

Set in a stunning, sustainable and eco-friendly 45-acre site close to the New Forest and Dorset coastline, the natural surroundings of our school and college provide a rich, enabling and therapeutic learning environment for students, aged 5-19, who have a special educational need.

We specialise in autism and communication difficulties, severe and complex learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge.

Our mission is to create an educational, therapeutic community and environment, which upholds each person's human integrity and spiritual wholeness and where every child and young person, both because of and despite their individual challenges, has something to give and something to learn through all of their relationships with others.
