Assessments

We offer assessments in English, maths and reasoning to help families preparing for school entrance exams or to help identify areas of strengths and weaknesses.

Will my child need assessments?

If your child is applying to academically selective schools, it can be helpful to assess their academic ability to help select the right school and set them up for success in entrance exams.

What's the process?

The Good Schools Guide offers two different types of academic assessment – online adaptive tests or traditional written papers in maths, English and reasoning – both of which are commonly used by school admissions departments to select their pupils. Written papers are marked in-house by our team, all former teachers, and you are provided with a detailed analysis of your child’s academic level, with areas for improvement highlighted if relevant.

How long will they take?

The exam papers or login details will be sent to you by email, and your child can take the test under supervision at a time to suit you both. After you have submitted your child’s responses by email, the consultant will mark these and provide a detailed report, identifying areas for improvement. The whole process can take up to a week.

How much will they cost?

The fee for assessments varies depending on the age of the child and the number of papers they take. They range from between £240 to £700 (including VAT).

“We were really grateful for your integrity, candour and kindness, especially because we felt that you approached J’s further education plans like a parent would and were concerned for his overall welfare.”

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude for all the help you offered for this college application process. I have been offered a secure place. This wouldn’t have been possible without your help. Again, thank you so much.”
