Reigate St Mary’s is a co-educational day school and nursery for children aged 2-11. It is a junior school of the award-winning senior school Reigate Grammar School (RGS), and typically 80 per cent of children transfer to RGS each year. All-through school (for example 3-18 years). - An all-through school covers junior and senior education. It may start at 3 or 4, or later, and continue through to 16 or 18. Some all-through schools set exams at 11 or 13 that pupils must pass to move on.
Choir school - substantial scholarships and bursaries usually available for choristers.
Since 2003 Marcus Culverwell, a local boy who grew up in Warlingham. Still wants, after all these years, to get the best for every pupil, ‘He understands and knows all the children,’ said one parent. Clearly no trouble winning parents over, he’s also popular with staff, one of whom described him as ‘a breath of fresh air’ – no mean feat after two decades. As a boy, Mr Culverwell loved physics and all things mechanical, which led him to study mechanical and aeronautical engineering at Brunel. Trained as an engineering lecturer, but ended up teaching science in schools, and that’s where he remained.
