The Good Schools Guide review of Teachitright

Back in the noughties, when Chris Pearse BA (sports science and geography), PGCE (both from St Mary’s University, Twickenham) was a teacher at a small primary school in Slough, he persuaded the headteacher, Nick Fry, to set up a group to provide tutoring for pupils taking the 11+ exam. It was so successful that in 2006 the pair decided to establish a business, running the group sessions across a range of venues. The company hasn’t stopped growing since.

Eventually, Nick stepped back to take up another headteacher role, although he still tutors at weekends and gets involved in observing the classes to check they’re up to scratch, as well as appraising the staff. Meanwhile, Chris – who has a background in creating exam content, and still does a little tutoring, as well as teaching at Slough Grammar - runs the business with his wife Louise, who looks after marketing.

The Good Schools Guide Education Consultants offer assessments in English, maths and in reasoning. Most schools assess these subjects when considering a child for a place. This is especially important for children coming from different countries with different educational systems. But there can be many reasons for checking a child's progress in these basic skills.
