What the school says

The Haberdashers’ Aske’s Girls’ School is based on a rural, 100-acre site in leafy Elstree, Hertfordshire, within easy reach of London and nearby to junctions on the M1 and M25. We have a vast coach network covering 34 different routes which will include students from reception from September 2025. With our strong pastoral care, broad curriculum and partnership opportunities, life at Habs Girls is fun and intellectually challenging. Both the boys’ and girls’ Schools offer the best of single-sex education in a unique co-educational environment where every sixth former will be taught at least one subject in a mixed-gender class.

Every girl is treated as an individual. Special individual needs include: those of the exceptionally able; those with mild learning difficulties; those with physical difficulties; those whose religious or other commitments who require special consideration. A specialist co-ordinater works, across the age range (4 - 18), and closely with, the co-ordinator for gifted and talented, the pastoral heads and senior management. There are on-going observations by subject staff of year groups, the feedback from which is followed up by the specialist staff. Girls with known medical conditions are on a special medical register and the school nurse holds individual medical plans. All staff are expected to familiarize themselves with girls' needs on a need-to-know basis. Special provision is made for those who need to miss school, or fast, for religious reasons.
