You’ve got the job. You’ve made the decision. For whatever reason, you’re on the move. There is always a lot to think about and it can be hard to know where to start. Find a new house? Or find a new school? And where are the good schools?

This is where we come in. The Good Schools Guide Education Consultants loves helping relocating families! We do it all the time. If you’re coming into an area you don’t know at all and where you have no friends to ask, then it can be tough to know where to start. And if you are also managing the family, holding down a job and dealing with estate agents and solicitors, navigating local authority websites or school prospectuses can be just a little more pressure than you want.

Not just a school

We know that it’s not just a question of a list of schools but of a manageable family life in terms of location, commuting and not going in three directions at once! Our twenty-five-odd consultants – all over the country though with a concentration in the south east – know all the schools and can find you as close as possible what you want for all your children. You may want them all in the same schools or they may need different schools. We listen and we find a solution that will enable a workable family life and have each child in the best school for them.

It’s everything else too

We can advise on catchment areas, admissions and even on where to live. We can help you with B and Bs or hotels if you need local places to stay while you visit schools. We can produce data and statistics if you want them or just tell-it-like-it-is reviews of schools with all the human detail like pastoral care and uniform a teenager might be prepared to wear.

Your child – nothing matters more

While you deal with furniture removal companies and conveyancing (property and real estate transactions), let The Good Schools Guide Education Consultants take over your concerns about schools.

  • Where to find a state grammar school

Identifying and locating grammar schools. Grammar schools are located in 36 English local authorities. Almost half of these are considered 'selective authorities' (eg Kent and Buckinghamshire), where around one in five local children are selected for grammar school entry based on ability. The others are areas such as Barnet or Kingston, with only a few grammar schools.

  • Boarding schools explained - the right choice?

The headmaster/mistress runs the school but boarding houses are usually the domain of either houseparents or, in smaller schools, the head of boarding. Whilst the housemaster/mistress oversee the house, the day-to-day running is usually under the supervision of a matron.

  • Choosing a school for a child with performing arts talents

As proud parents, we all know our children are unique. They're smarter than anyone else's, funnier, certainly more attractive, better behaved and above all bursting with the kind of talent that would leave Daniel Radcliffe, Jamie Bell and Charlotte Church standing. And for some extraordinary - though totally understandable - reason, everyone but us seems blind to our offspring's God-given artistic gifts.
