Entrance
Entry to year 3 is by assessment in English, maths and reading as well as a short taught task. Girls spend a half day doing this in school and tutoring is discouraged. It’s definitely selection based on academic ability and potential. Around half

Usually 85 per cent or more of year 6 move into the senior school. Junior school girls sit the entrance test for the senior school alongside external applicants as well as attending a Withington-in-action tour of the seniors and having an interview.

Mrs Clark told us, ‘We are fast paced, we move through the curriculum quickly with a high level of challenge and go into greater depth as soon as the girls can do it. They need to be able to learn at a decent pace.’ Most of the teaching is delivered
