What the school says...

Sandroyd combines a stunning location with high academic and pastoral standards to ensure that each child fulfills potential and achieves their ambitions in many different areas. Most importantly they are supported by a friendly and well motivated staff.

Academically, standard subjects are taught in bright, roomy classrooms and the countryside around the school is used as often as possible for subjects such as science, geography and art. Each pupil is taught from a carousel of extra topics (SKULL) once a week. This way learning is enhanced and knowledge broadened. Topics as varied as astronomy, engineering, the history of art and politics are looked at by children in mixed age and ability sets for this subject alone.

Children are prepared for Common Entrance and scholarship exams at 13. The school feeds a wide range of senior schools. Eton, Winchester, Radley, Sherborne and Bryanston are popular for boys while Sherborne, St.Mary's Calne and Bryanston are popular for the girls.

Boarding is popular throughout the school. All dorms are under one roof in different wings.
Sandroyd thrives on being a happy and purposeful school where the children feel secure and supported to learn, try new activities and most importantly to look after each other in a relaxed environment.

Thank the school

Parents and pupils often have cause to acknowledge the help and support they have received from their schools, for example in helping in the choice of further education or careers. "Say thank you" allows you to send a quick note of appreciation to the school in general or to an individual teacher.

This is a thank you to your school, teacher or careers adviser who helped you to get where you are now.

Please fill in the fields below, which we will transform into a letter of thanks from you to them.

Leave blank if you want to thank the school as a whole

Years you were there

Can be left blank but, if you can, think of a few words that will bring a smile.

Special Education Needs

Sandroyd has a Learning Support Unit staffed by [two] fully qualified teachers, who have further training in dealing with children with special needs. If it is felt that a child requires a degree of individual assistance with their academic studies, we have the expertise and facilities to help them. 33 children currently receive some help. Parents may discuss the support at any time. External support services, such as an educational psychologist, speech therapist and paediatricians are consulted for further specialist support when needed. Individual lessons last 40 minutes and take place at a convenient time for the students. Mainstream staff are kept informed of any specific difficulties. On average children receive two lessons a week but this varies depending on individual circumstances. We pride ourselves on the improvements and successes achieved by our students.
