What the school says...
At the time of the founding of the school in 1594, Lady Dacre, our foundress, wrote that one of the main aims was, 'for the bringing up of children in virtue and good and laudable arts so that they might better live in time to come by their honest labour'.
/> Today, Emanuel is also committed to
promoting independent thought and a life-long curiosity for learning
the pursuit of academic excellence
providing a broad-based education enabling all pupils to discover their strengths, develop their individual talents and prepare for higher education and adult life
providing supportive pastoral care that nurtures health and well being, emotional maturity and spiritual richness
engendering respect, tolerance and understanding of the importance of caring for others and the environment.
The end result is a vibrant and friendly school - come and see for yourself. ...Read more
Thank the school
Parents and pupils often have cause to acknowledge the help and support they have received from their schools, for example in helping in the choice of further education or careers. "Say thank you" allows you to send a quick note of appreciation to the school in general or to an individual teacher.
This is a thank you to your school, teacher or careers adviser who helped you to get where you are now.
Please fill in the fields below, which we will transform into a letter of thanks from you to them.

Special Education Needs
About 10-15% of students at Emanuel are mildly dyslexic or dyspraxic, and we have a small learning support unit of three teachers who work with these pupils to improve their performance by means of small group work. This service is included in the tuition fee. Additional one-to-one assistance is available, on request, but this may be charged as an extra to the school fee. We have very few students at the school with other special needs at present, but we are always happy to discuss your son or daughter's needs with you to see if we can help. For example we have had some students with ADHD who have coped well here, and similarly students with hearing difficulties. So it is worth discussing the specific issues with us, to see whether we can provide the necessary support and assistance your child may need.
