Since 2020, Dr Gary Savage, formerly headmaster of Alleyn’s school. Educated at a Suffolk comprehensive (Ipswich Town FC still has a place in his heart), he was the first person in his family to go to university. After achieving a double first in history at Cambridge he stayed on to study for a PhD on 18th century France and started teaching undergraduates both in Cambridge and Paris. Then straight to Eton for ten years where he was head of history and master-in-college, followed by a short spell as under master here at Westminster.
